Terms of Service for Chatcraft

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the Chatcraft application ("Service", "App"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Chatcraft, you confirm that:

You are at least 13 years old.
You have read and understood these Terms and agree to comply with them.
You have the right to share any content you import into the app (e.g., WhatsApp export files).

2. Description of Service

Chatcraft is a mobile application that converts WhatsApp chat exports into PDF memory books. The Service includes:

Importing WhatsApp chat exports (.txt or .zip files) from your device.
Customising and generating a PDF memory book entirely on your device.
Sharing or saving the generated PDF to your device.
Optional paid features (custom themes, watermark removal, subnote captions, etc.) available via export credits purchased through Google Play.

All chat processing is local. Your conversation data is never uploaded to our servers.

3. User Accounts

3.1 Registration

You may register using an email address and password, or via Google Sign-In. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials.

3.2 Guest Accounts

A Guest Account can be created without registration. Guest accounts and all associated data are permanently deleted 7 days after creation. We recommend converting to a full account if you want to keep your saved books.

3.3 Accurate Information

You agree to provide accurate information when registering. Impersonation or false information may result in account termination.

4. Your Content and Responsibilities

4.1 Your Chat Data

You are solely responsible for the WhatsApp export files you import into Chatcraft. By using the Service, you represent that:

You are a participant in the conversations you import.
You have obtained any consents required by applicable law to process and export this conversation data.
You will not import conversations that contain illegal content.

4.2 Generated PDFs

You own the PDFs you generate. By using the Service, you grant us no rights to your chat content or generated PDFs.

4.3 Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use Chatcraft to:

Import or process conversations without the knowledge or consent of other participants where required by law.
Generate or distribute PDFs containing illegal content, including CSAM or content that facilitates crime.
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the application.
Use automated scripts or bots to interact with the Service.
Circumvent any payment, access control, or security feature.

5. Export Credits and Payments

5.1 Credit System

PDF export requires export credits, purchased through Google Play. Credit pricing is displayed in-app at the time of purchase. Credits do not expire.

5.2 Free Tier

Users with zero credits may use the app and generate watermarked PDFs. Banner advertisements are shown to free-tier users.

5.3 Refunds

Refunds are governed by Google Play's refund policy. We do not process refunds directly.

5.4 No Subscription

Chatcraft uses a one-time credit pack model — there is no recurring subscription. You pay only when you want to export.

6. Advertisements

Free-tier users (zero export credits) may see banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. By using the free tier, you agree to the display of these ads. Purchasing export credits removes all advertising.

7. Privacy

Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy, incorporated into these Terms by reference. Your chat data is processed entirely on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.

8. Intellectual Property

All content in the Chatcraft application — including the name, logo, design, software, and copy — is owned by or licensed to us and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our intellectual property without written permission.

The content of your generated PDFs (your WhatsApp conversations, photos, etc.) remains your own property.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific WhatsApp export format will always be supported.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA OR CONTENT — ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or ₹500 (five hundred Indian Rupees), whichever is greater.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Chatcraft and its operator from any claims, liabilities, or expenses arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; or (c) your violation of any third-party rights, including privacy rights of participants in conversations you import.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion for:

Violation of these Terms.
Extended inactivity (more than 12 consecutive months).
Fraudulent or abusive activity.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Purchased credits are non-refundable on termination for Terms violations.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in India. We encourage you to contact us before pursuing formal proceedings.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification or email at least 14 days before changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
