Privacy Policy for DevPath
Last updated: November 2, 2026 · Effective: November 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Laxmi Solutions ("We", "Us", "Our") handles information in connection with DevPath, our app for learning developer skills through lessons, quizzes, tests, flashcards and projects, available as DevPath for Android (package solutions.laxmi.devpath). DevPath works without an account and keeps your learning progress on your own device.
1. The Short Version
- You don't create an account. We don't ask for your name, email, phone number or contacts.
- Your progress, answers, XP, streak and settings stay on your device, in the app's private storage. We don't receive them.
- The first three modules of every course are free and show ads through Google AdMob, which uses your device's advertising ID. In regions that require it (such as the EEA and UK), we ask for your consent first.
- DevPath Pro, a one-time purchase through Google Play, unlocks every course and removes all ads. You can also watch one ad to use DevPath without ads for an hour.
- We add no analytics or tracking SDK of our own.
- Course content is delivered by Google Play, as part of the app. We run no content server.
2. Information We Collect
We designed DevPath to collect as little as possible.
2.1 Your Learning Progress and Settings
Lessons you complete, quiz and test answers and scores, flashcard review history, XP, streaks, your learning goal, theme and reminder settings are stored locally in the app's private database and preferences on your device. This information is not transmitted to us and we have no way to read it.
2.2 Course Content Downloads
Course listings and outlines come inside the app. When you start a course, its lessons are downloaded by Google Play (Play Asset Delivery), in the same way Google Play installs and updates apps. We run no content server and receive nothing about these downloads; Google handles them under Google's Privacy Policy.
2.3 Advertising
DevPath shows a banner on its main screens, an occasional full-screen ad between lessons, and, only if you choose to watch one, a rewarded ad that removes ads for an hour. Ads are served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google's Mobile Ads SDK may collect your device's resettable advertising ID, your IP address (and an approximate location derived from it), device and app information, and how you interact with ads, together with diagnostic data such as crash logs. This data goes to Google, not to us, and is handled under Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), DevPath asks for your consent through Google's User Messaging Platform before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time under Profile → DevPath Pro → Ad privacy choices.
To grant the ad-free hour fairly, the app checks on your device that the rewarded ad was watched to the end, while your device was online. These checks happen on the device and nothing about them is sent to us.
The app keeps a few counters on your device so that ads are not shown too often (for example, how many times you have opened the app and when the last full-screen ad appeared). These stay on your device.
2.4 Purchases (DevPath Pro)
DevPath Pro is a one-time purchase processed by Google Play Billing. Google handles your payment; we never see your card or payment details. The app receives from Google Play only the purchase record for Pro on the Google account on the device (such as the product, an order number and Google's signature), and it checks Google's signature so a purchase cannot be faked. It keeps that record on your device so Pro works offline, and asks Google Play again when you open or return to the app (which also restores Pro on a new phone). Pro keeps working offline for 30 days after Google Play last confirmed it; after that, the app needs to be online once to confirm it again. If Google Play no longer lists the purchase (for example after a refund), the app turns Pro off on your device. The purchase record is not included in Android backups and is never sent to us.
2.5 Device Permissions
| Permission | Why it's used |
|---|---|
| Internet and network state | To load ads, check that a rewarded ad is watched online, check DevPath Pro with Google Play, and retry a course download when the connection returns (Google Play performs the download). |
| Advertising ID | Added by Google's Mobile Ads SDK to serve and measure ads. You can reset or delete it in your device settings. |
| Notifications (Android 13+) | Only for the optional daily study reminder. DevPath asks for it when you switch the reminder on, and you can turn the reminder off at any time. |
DevPath does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or files.
2.6 Backup
DevPath supports Android's backup and device-to-device transfer. If backup is turned on for your device, Android may copy your progress database and settings to your Google account so they can be restored on a new phone. Downloaded course content is excluded, because it can simply be downloaded again, and so are the DevPath Pro purchase record and ad settings (Pro is restored from Google Play instead). Backup is provided and controlled by Google; you can turn it off in your device's settings.
2.7 Contacting Us
If you use Send feedback, DevPath opens your own email app with our address filled in. We receive only what you choose to send, such as your email address and message, and we use it only to reply to you.
2.8 Links to Other Websites
Some lessons link to further reading on other websites, and ads may link to advertisers' websites or apps. These open outside DevPath, and those websites have their own privacy policies.
3. How We Use Information
Because your progress stays on your device, we use information only to: show ads, and, where you consent, personalised ads; provide DevPath Pro and the ad-free hour; keep the app secure and working; and reply to messages you send us. We do not sell your personal information.
Where the GDPR or a similar law applies, the legal bases are: consent for personalised advertising (withdraw it under Ad privacy choices); performance of a contract for providing DevPath Pro; and our legitimate interests in showing non-personalised ads that keep DevPath free, and preventing fraud.
4. Third-Party Services
DevPath relies on the following third parties, whose handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies:
- Google AdMob (ads) — Google's Privacy Policy and AdMob's data disclosures.
- Google User Messaging Platform (ad consent) — Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Billing (DevPath Pro) and Google Play (app distribution and course downloads) — Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google (Android backup, if you turn it on) — Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Your Advertising Choices
- Remove ads entirely: buy DevPath Pro under Profile → DevPath Pro.
- An hour without ads: watch one rewarded ad under Profile → DevPath Pro.
- Change ad consent (where offered): Profile → DevPath Pro → Ad privacy choices.
- Reset or delete your advertising ID: on Android, Settings → Privacy → Ads (or Settings → Google → Ads on some devices).
- Interest-based ads: see Google's Ads Settings.
6. Data Retention
Your progress and settings remain on your device until you reset them in the app (Profile → Preferences → Reset progress), clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. We hold no copy of them, so there is nothing for us to keep or delete on our servers. Google keeps ad, purchase and backup data under its own retention policies.
7. Security
Your progress is stored in the app's private storage on your device, protected by your device's own security. Course content is delivered by Google Play, and the app checks each course file against its expected fingerprint before using it. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but because your data stays on your device, its security largely depends on the security of your device.
8. Children's Privacy
DevPath is a general-audience learning app and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). It doesn't ask for personal information from anyone, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through feedback, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live (for example under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Because DevPath keeps your progress on your device and does not send it to us, you can exercise most of these rights directly: view your progress in the app, reset it, or clear the app's storage to remove everything. For advertising data held by Google, use the choices in Section 5 or contact Google. For a feedback email you sent us, or any other request, contact us (Section 12).
We do not sell your personal information. Under some US state laws, the use of the advertising ID for personalised ads may count as "sharing"; you can opt out by limiting or deleting your advertising ID (Section 5) or by buying DevPath Pro.
10. International Users
DevPath is operated from India. Google delivers course content and processes ad and purchase data in many countries. Information may therefore be processed in countries other than your own, under those providers' safeguards.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice where appropriate. Continued use of DevPath after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
