Privacy Policy for Notes

Last updated: June 12, 2026 · Effective: June 12, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Notes ("We", "Us", "Our") handles your information when you use our application. By using Notes, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. What is Notes?

Notes is a mobile task and habit manager. You create tasks, lists, reminders, and recurring habits, and Notes keeps track of streaks and tasks that roll over. Everything you create is stored entirely on your device. There is no account, no login, and no cloud — your tasks never leave your phone.

2. Summary

  • No account required. You can use Notes without registering or providing any personal information.
  • Your tasks stay on your device. Task content, lists, notes, subtasks, reminders, and settings are stored only in Notes's private storage on your phone.
  • We do not run servers that hold your data. We have no technical ability to read your tasks.
  • The only data that leaves your device is collected by Google AdMob to display advertisements (see Section 4).

3. Information Stored On Your Device

The following data is created and stored only in Notes's private app storage on your device. It is never transmitted to us:

  • Tasks and lists — titles, notes, subtasks, due dates, reminder times, priority, recurrence rules, and completion history.
  • Habit streaks — counts of consecutive completions for recurring tasks.
  • App preferences — theme (light/dark) and behaviour settings such as roll-over, reminders, streaks, and planning nudges.

This data is removed when you uninstall the app or clear the app's storage.

4. Advertising Data (Google AdMob)

Notes is free and supported by advertising. We use Google AdMob (Google LLC) to display banner, interstitial, and app-open advertisements. To serve ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process:

  • Device advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID)
  • IP address and approximate, coarse location derived from it
  • Device information (model, operating system version, language)
  • Ad interaction and usage signals

This is the only data collected from your use of Notes that leaves your device. AdMob's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Consent in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland

Where required by law (for example, under the GDPR), Notes uses Google's User Messaging Platform to request your consent before serving personalised ads. You can change your choice at any time; if you decline personalised ads, you may still see non-personalised ads.

Resetting or limiting ad tracking

You can reset your Advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation at any time via your device settings: Settings → Google → Ads.

5. Data We Do NOT Collect

Notes is explicitly designed so that:

  • We do not collect your tasks, notes, or any content you create. It never leaves your device.
  • We do not require or collect an email address, name, or password.
  • We do not use analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • We do not build advertising profiles from the content of your tasks — we have no access to it.

6. Sharing Your Data

Because your task data never leaves your device, there is nothing for us to share. The only data sharing that occurs is with Google LLC, which receives the advertising signals described in Section 4 to serve and measure ads.

We may also disclose information if required to do so by law or valid legal process — but this can only ever concern the limited advertising data above, as we hold no other data about you.

7. Data Retention

Data typeRetention
Tasks, lists, streaks, settingsStored on your device until you delete them, clear storage, or uninstall the app
Advertising identifiers (held by Google)Per Google's retention policies — see Google's Privacy Policy

We do not retain any of your data on our own servers.

8. Your Rights

Because Notes stores your data locally, you are in full control: you can edit or delete any task at any time, and clearing the app's storage or uninstalling removes all of it permanently.

India — Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP)

In accordance with India's DPDP Act, you have the right to access, correct, and erase your personal data. For the on-device data, you can do this directly in the app. For advertising data held by Google, please use the controls in Section 4 or contact us at the email below.

European Users (GDPR)

If you access the Service from within the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights to access, rectification, erasure, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. You may also withdraw advertising consent at any time (see Section 4).

9. Data Security

  • Your task data is kept in your device's private app storage, isolated from other apps by the Android operating system.
  • All advertising network communication uses HTTPS/TLS.
  • Because your tasks never leave your device, they are not exposed to server-side breaches.

10. Children's Privacy

Notes is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Advertisements are served in accordance with Google AdMob's policies. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the ad network, please contact us.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do:

  • The "Last updated" date at the top will change.
  • For significant changes, we will notify you via an in-app notice where appropriate.

Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
