Privacy Policy for Splice

Last updated: June 22, 2026 · Effective: June 22, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Splice ("We", "Us", "Our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website and application. By using Splice, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. What is Splice?

Splice is a multi-file vector workspace — an editor for creating and editing SVG (vector) graphics. Your files are edited entirely on your device: the editor runs in your browser (or in the app's local view) and your designs are never uploaded to our servers.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Files & Projects You Create

The SVG files, shapes, and projects you create, import, or paste into Splice are processed and stored locally only — in your browser's local storage on the web, or in the app's private storage on your device. We do not receive, transmit, or store the content of your files.

2.2 Local Settings

Your editor preferences (such as theme, accent color, panel layout, and open tabs) are saved locally on your device so the editor remembers them between sessions. These never leave your device.

2.3 Advertising Data

Splice is free and supported by ads. On the web, ads are served by Google AdSense; in the app, ads are served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, these services may collect device and browser identifiers (including the advertising ID and AdSense cookies), IP address, and usage signals, in accordance with Google's privacy policy. In the European Economic Area, the UK, and other applicable regions, Splice shows a Google-certified consent form (Google's consent management / User Messaging Platform) before personalised ads are served.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the limited data described above to:

  • Run the editor and keep your work and preferences available on your device.
  • Serve and measure advertising that keeps Splice free (via Google AdSense / AdMob).
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your data to read, profile, or upload the content of your designs.

4. Data We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not require an account, and we do not collect your name, email, or password to use the editor.
  • We do not upload, read, or store the SVG files or designs you create.
  • We do not track your precise location.
  • We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

5. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. Limited data is shared only with the service providers needed to run ads and the app:

  • Google LLC — advertising identifiers/cookies and signals for Google AdSense (web) and Google AdMob (app), used to serve and measure ads.
  • Law enforcement / courts — only data we actually hold (which is minimal), where legally required.
  • Acquirer (if the app/site is sold) — any applicable data, with notice to users as part of a business transfer.

6. Cookies & Similar Technologies

On the web, Google AdSense and the consent form use cookies and similar technologies (and on the app, equivalent advertising identifiers) to serve and measure ads and to remember your consent choices. Where required, these are used only after you consent. You can manage or reset your advertising identifier in your device or browser settings, and you can adjust Google's ad personalisation at Google Ad Settings.

7. Data Retention

  • Your files and settings remain on your device until you delete them (e.g., by clearing the app's data or your browser's site data).
  • Advertising identifiers are retained by Google per Google's retention policy.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because Splice keeps your designs and settings on your device, you can exercise most of these directly by deleting your local/app data. For advertising data held by Google, see Google's privacy controls.

India — Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP)

You have the right to access, correct, and erase your personal data and to grievance redressal. Contact us using the details below.

European / UK Users (GDPR / UK GDPR)

Our lawful bases are consent (for personalised ads) and legitimate interests (running the service and non-personalised ads). You may withdraw consent at any time via the in-app/website consent controls.

9. Data Security

  • Your designs stay on your device, reducing exposure.
  • Communication with Google AdSense / AdMob uses encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections.

No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we use reasonable measures to protect the limited data involved.

10. Children's Privacy

Splice is a general-audience design tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will address it.

11. Third-Party Services

Splice uses the following Google services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do, the "Last updated" date above will change, and for significant changes we will surface a notice in the app or on the website. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
