Terms of Service for Bhakti Bhoomi
Last updated: June 21, 2026 · Effective: June 21, 2026
Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the Bhakti Bhoomi application ("Service", "App"). By installing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Bhakti Bhoomi, you confirm that:
- You are at least 13 years old.
- You have read, understood, and agree to comply with these Terms.
If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Bhakti Bhoomi is a free devotional app. The Service lets you:
- Read sacred texts (e.g. Bhagavad Gita, Ramayan, Mahabharat, Vedas, Chalisa, Aarti, and more) and listen to mantras and aarti.
- View a Panchang (Hindu almanac) and festival calendar.
- Keep a personal practice — a japa counter, a reading streak, and daily ritual reminders.
- With an account: bookmark, like, and comment on content, and share posts in the community (Sangha) feed.
Most reading features are available without an account. Bookmarks, likes, comments, and the community require you to sign in.
3. Accounts
To use account features you must register with accurate information (name, username, email) and a password.
- You are responsible for keeping your password and device secure, and for all activity under your account.
- You must provide a valid email address; we use it for verification and password resets.
- Do not impersonate others, create accounts for abusive purposes, or share your account credentials.
- You may delete your account at any time from within the app.
4. User Content and Community Conduct
You may create content such as comments and community (Sangha) posts ("User Content").
4.1 Your Content
You retain ownership of your User Content. By posting it, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and distribute that content within the Service so it can be shown to other users. You are solely responsible for your User Content and confirm you have the rights to post it.
4.2 Acceptable Conduct
Because Bhakti Bhoomi is a devotional and respectful space, you agree not to post or do anything that:
- Is unlawful, hateful, harassing, threatening, obscene, or defamatory.
- Disrespects, demeans, or incites hatred against any religion, community, deity, or person.
- Infringes anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
- Contains spam, scams, malware, or unsolicited promotion.
- Misrepresents your identity or impersonates others.
4.3 Moderation
We may review, remove, or restrict any User Content, and suspend or terminate accounts, that we reasonably believe violate these Terms — with or without notice. We are not obligated to monitor content but may do so.
5. Religious & Almanac Content
Scriptural texts are provided for devotional, educational, and informational purposes. Translations and transliterations may vary by tradition and source.
The Panchang and festival dates are computed using established astronomical methods (sidereal/Lahiri calculations) and are provided for devotional and informational reference. Observance dates can differ by region, tradition, and local sighting; for ritual decisions, please also consult your family priest or local authority. We do not warrant that every date will match every regional almanac.
6. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the application, except where permitted by law.
- Access the Service or its APIs in an automated, abusive, or excessive manner, or attempt to disrupt or overload our systems.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or to our infrastructure.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
7. Privacy
Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy, incorporated into these Terms by reference. Reading features can be used without an account; account features store certain data on our servers as described there.
8. Intellectual Property
The underlying scriptures are largely public-domain religious works. However, the Bhakti Bhoomi application itself — including its name, logo, design, software, curation, compilation, translations we license, and copy — is owned by or licensed to us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our intellectual property without written permission.
User Content remains the property of the user who created it, subject to the licence in Section 4.1.
9. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third-party providers (for example, media hosting and email delivery) to function. Your use of features that depend on them is also subject to those providers' terms. We are not responsible for third-party services.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that content or translations are free of inaccuracies, that Panchang dates will match every tradition, or that reminders and notifications will always be delivered on time, as these depend on your device and operating system.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA OR CONTENT — ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.
Because Bhakti Bhoomi is provided free of charge, our total liability for any claim shall not exceed ₹500 (five hundred Indian Rupees).
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bhakti Bhoomi and its operator from any claims, liabilities, or expenses arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your User Content; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights.
13. Termination
These Terms apply for as long as you use the Service. You may stop using Bhakti Bhoomi at any time by uninstalling the app or deleting your account. We may suspend or discontinue the Service, or any feature of it, and may terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will survive.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in India. We encourage you to contact us before pursuing formal proceedings.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. We will reflect material changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, via an in-app notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
